Important exceptions
- 1
The phone must be carrier-unlocked. Phones bought on a contract may be locked to one network, so ask your provider to unlock it.
- 2
iPhone models sold in mainland China don’t support eSIM, and most iPhones sold in Hong Kong and Macau don’t either.
- 3
Some Samsung, Google and other Android models sold in specific countries or through certain carriers ship without eSIM.
- 4
Older software can hide eSIM options, so update your phone to the latest version before installing.
